Information For Authors
The Journal of Phase Change Materials (J-PCM) welcomes original research articles, systematic reviews, rapid communications, and selected conference papers in all areas related to phase change materials science and engineering.
Open Access & Article Processing
J-PCM is fully open access. Authors retain copyright of their work under a CC BY 4.0 licence. There are currently no article processing charges (APCs) — submission and publication are free of charge.
Peer Review
All manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review by at least two independent experts. Authors are encouraged to suggest three potential reviewers with no conflicts of interest in their cover letter. The editorial team reserves the right to select reviewers independently.
Ethical Standards (COPE)
J-PCM adheres to the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Authors must ensure that:
- The work is original and has not been published elsewhere, nor is under consideration elsewhere.
- All authors listed have made a substantive intellectual contribution to the work.
- Data fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism are grounds for immediate rejection or retraction.
- Any potential conflicts of interest are declared in the manuscript.
- Research involving human subjects or animals has received appropriate ethical approval.
- Informed consent was obtained where required.
ICMJE Authorship Criteria
J-PCM follows the ICMJE recommendations for authorship. To qualify as an author, an individual must have:
- Made substantial contributions to conception or design, or acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data;
- Drafted or critically revised the article for important intellectual content;
- Approved the final version to be published;
- Agreed to be accountable for all aspects of the work.
All contributors who do not meet all four criteria should be listed in the Acknowledgements section.
